OUR FOUNDER'S STORY

Andrea's Story

The Andrea Patterson Foundation was founded by Andrea Patterson, MSN, RN, a registered nurse, nurse educator, author, entrepreneur, and healthcare advocate with more than 27 years of experience in healthcare.

Throughout her nursing career, Andrea has cared for thousands of patients and witnessed firsthand the profound impact that education, advocacy, and early intervention can have on patient outcomes. Her passion for education and community health was further strengthened by a deeply personal experience—the loss of her mother to sepsis.

Like many families, and healthcare workers were unaware of the early warning signs of sepsis and the urgency with which it must be recognized and treated. Following this devastating experience, Andrea committed herself to increasing public awareness of sepsis while simultaneously working to strengthen and support the healthcare workforce.

As both a clinician and educator, Andrea recognized the growing need for healthcare professionals, improved educational support, and accessible training opportunities for individuals pursuing careers in healthcare. This realization inspired the creation of the Andrea Patterson Foundation.

Today, the Foundation serves as a bridge between community health education, healthcare workforce development, and professional advancement, ensuring that individuals at every stage of their healthcare journey have access to the education and support they need to succeed.

WHY WE STARTED

The Andrea Patterson Foundation was established to address two critical healthcare challenges:

Improving Healthcare Outcomes Through Education

Far too many individuals, families, and healthcare workers lack access to timely education and resources related to life-threatening conditions such as sepsis. Education saves lives, and increasing awareness is essential to improving patient outcomes.

Strengthening the Healthcare Workforce

Healthcare organizations across the country continue to face workforce shortages and educational barriers that impact patient care. By providing educational support, certification preparation, career advancement opportunities, and workforce development initiatives, we aim to strengthen the healthcare workforce pipeline and support those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.

The Foundation exists because we believe that every patient deserves knowledgeable healthcare providers and every healthcare professional deserves access to quality educational support.

OUR MISSION
